The content then naturally cascades onto myspace music pages and suddenly your best mates are looking like actual rock stars. It has had a marked effect. The better the personal image, the bigger the following attracted and subsequently, the larger the audiences at V-One live gigs. The new young people in the audience then get inspired and eventually start appearing on stage themselves – and so on.
V-One founder partner, Sally Carpenter, said: “It didn’t take long from the April launch of the project, to know that we were hitting the nail on the head. By the time our big outdoor summer gig rolled around in July, the audience were singing along with original material created by local teenagers. Why? Cos’ they’d seen their professional V-One music videos on the Internet!”
The V-One concept was born out of a need to maintain a core of youth arts enthusiasm and following in a climate where projects are ad-hoc due to the need for external funding sources. By using readily available resources to maintain regular small gigs, V-One has developed both a following and a presence which make it an attractive prospect for both participants and potential funding partners alike.
V-One is run by Sally Carpenter of Alchemy Creative Communications and Paul Carpenter of Alchemy Productions. The brand currently has a partnership with Thurrock Council’s Arts Team to deliver paid admissions to cultural events. For further information on V-One, email Sally at sally@alchemycreative.co.uk
