Kenrick reflected on the challenges he faced growing up in Forest Gate, the difficult decision to pursue dance. He charted his extraordinary rise to success with Blue Boy Entertainment, who won a 2007 Olivier Award and are now the Barbican’s Company-in-Residence.
20 young people attended the second masterclass on Tuesday 1st December, featuring West End producer Andrew Fishwick and Throwdown UK's Charlie Blue. Andrew spoke candidly about his experiences producing The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, including the tricky task of financial management. Charlie Blue recounted his journey from six years ago, when he was flyer boy for the first Throwdown night to being the producer for his internationally touring, Eastpack sponsored company.
The responses from the young participants were extremely positive, prompting them to reflect on their career paths. One young person said: ‘I would love to become a professional musician…but not for the fame and fortune but just because I LOVE music! And I want to use my music to help others.’
