Initially starting with a twenty-minute spell in the water, the sessions extended to forty minutes long; this, together with the fact that the children were encountering the characters and the enhanced pool setting for a third or fourth time, allowed for an even more intense connection which ‘will live with them forever.’ It is the extended visits which allowed those accompanying the students to see how they could help the youngsters get the most out of their experience.

Pool Piece will be returning for a six-week national tour in the autumn of 2009.
