Our Country's Bad

Our Country's Bad is a new production created by Ricky J Payne and young people from Luton. It’s a drama based on Timberlake Wertenbaker's Our Country's Good. Jamie Condron is a recent drama graduate from drama school and started working with a youth group at the local community centre. However, when Jamie tries to bring classical work into the group, things turn sour. With a performance looming how can Jamie and the young people make their mark whilst being true to themselves?

The show is being created to be performed in The Hat Factory in Luton. Our Country's Bad is an interdisciplinary piece mixing song, dance, spoken word and animation- the talented young performers put their community at the centre of this unique dramatic production. Our Country's Bad gives young performers the rare opportunity to work with professional artist, which combines extensive professional experience with exciting emerging artists. Lead by director, Stuart Mullins; Artist Ricky J Payne; sound designer Simon McCorry.

The young performers are rehearsing with the professionals  from 23rd-27th July and 28th-31st August building up to the performance at The Hat Factory on 12th October. Our Country's Bad is more than just a show it’s a community event!
