
The Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds has six Theatre Makers clubs and three Youth Theatres in villages around Bury as well as in the town itself. Supported by a range of trusts and funds, the Theatre produces issue-based programmes for schools and Extended Schools’ groups (as might be expected of a regional theatre).
Since the restoration that re-captured the Theatre’s 1819 origins, general guided tours for adults have been offered with all the facts and a taste of the Regency atmosphere. With such a beautiful and history-rich subject it seemed important to find a way to communicate the story of the building to children. We needed to find a funny and memorable way of inviting young people to discover more about the Theatre which has been part of their community for over 200 years. Continues>
