“The majority of my work to date, in storytelling, workshop facilitation and as a visual artist has been devised alone, so the opportunity to be involved in a concentrated collaborative process in a group with such a diversity of creative and academic experience was very exciting and enriching. It was great to be part of such a passionate, motivated and focussed group Each day of the three day process built on what had come before, supporting me (as someone new to this way of working) through a playful, improvisatory yet very cohesive creative journey. A striking feature of the three days for me was the integration of academic research into early communication and autism, which both validated many of the ways I currently work with very young children and provided insight into ways I could develop this work with other groups. I am at the very beginnings of thinking about how to develop on from the one off storytelling sessions that I run into more crafted pieces of work for the very young, and the devising process we went through integrating word, music, voice, movement, film, design and object manipulation all within the unfamiliar element of water is a wonderful box of delights for me to draw from in the future.”
