CHRIS MCINTYRE

Chris is Dean of the Faculty for Creative and Cultural Industries at the University of Hertfordshire, and was previously Vice Principal of Loughborough College of Art and Design during its last years as an independent Higher Education Institution.  His academic background is in the History and Theory of Art and Design, and he has taught and researched in a range of areas.

Since arriving at the University of Hertfordshire in 1996 Chris has led the development of new curricula which respond to the university’s changed strategic direction and has developed significant new resources including £5 million new faculty building in 1998 and a new £7 million Digital Arts building in 2006. 

Through his work within and outside of formal education Chris has long been interested in issues of professional development for artists, makers and designers.  He has been involved in an advisory or trustee capacity with the Crafts Council, East Midlands and Eastern Arts Boards, the Digswell Arts Trust, Metier, Edexcel and the Arts Council of England.
